AME Multi-Media Teaching Materials???greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread |
I'm looking for supplemental AME teaching materials in the format of electronic media, e.g. CD, DVD or VHS-video cassets. It would be nice to have a DVD or video about the history of the AMEC for New Members Training or the History of the AME Sunday School Union for AME Church Schools. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I contacted the AME Publishing House on yesterday and a staff member informed me that currently no multi-media materials are available for purchase because our publishing house doesn't offer such products. Rival publishing companies like Urban Ministries and David C. Cook provide such materials in their product offereings. In order for the AMEC to remain competitive we should be offering similar products to our core constituents. If we want to keep our youth and young adults engaged in our ministries it is imperative that we deploy current technology that reflects their cultural interests. The production cost for multimedia products is not that expensive. QED

Sounds like a venture you or one of your children could embark on, Bill! Or, one of my children. Let's see who gets started on it first.A.J.

Bro. Bill, that sounds like a great idea. Perhaps you can contact the Christian Ed Dept. Under the new director, the CED website is only a shadow of what it was...and I'm sure there are probably reasons for that. However, from the site, one cannot even tell WHO the Director of Christian Ed is...none of the former links on the left side of the home page are active. If you click on the Ministries in Christian Ed link, all you get is info on the dates and place and a registration form, but no program information. Perhaps these failures are related to a transition in the Dept, but it's pretty sad that there is no significant information located there (www.ameced.com).

We do have a powerpoint presentation that we have used for training the presenters in our membership training, but have not yet developed one for the actual training of new members.
