Hint: He WAS a Bishop.

Think of the ramifications of this statement. If Ham was black, then the ancient kingdoms and cities of Kush, Meroe, Phut, Kem, Babel, Babylon, Nineveh, and Rehoboth were black. A black Ham means that the Ethiopians, Egyptians, Babylonians, west Chaldeans, Canaanites, Phoenicians and Carthaginians were black. Candace? Black. Solomon? Black. Jesus?...........

I don't know what Bishop said that but an AME pastor said that very same thing about five years ago. This same pastor stated that because of Ham, African Americans were cursed by the slave trade (or something to that affect). I received the comments in a negative way. As a result, I walked out of the sanctuary. God bless. A.J.

Ham is of Africa But: Ham was not cursed.

Noah, Ham's father was a drunk. In his drunkeness (hungover), he cursed Ham. The question is: Does God honor the curses of a drunken fool? I think not. The Bible tells us what happened. It is up to us to rightly divide the scriptures considering the totality of scripture. The Bible tells us that Noah was drunk. The implication is that was his habit (weakness). His sons saw him naked in a drunken stupor. Ham ridiculed him. (Ham was right.) Noah cussed Ham out. (That is to be expected from a drunk.} God honors both our Blessings and Curses as long as they fall within His will. Did this fall within His will? Absolutely not. The story teaches us to refrain from too much wine; about some of our santimonous brothers and sisters (Shem & Japheth), and respect for our elders in spite of their weaknesses.

Second, Ham was not cursed...Canaan was....
"When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son (Ham) had done to him, he said, "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers." Genesis 9:24-25 (NIV)

Admittedly, the rest of Ham's kids and grandkids weren't much better Babylon, Nineveh, the Philistines).....except Put...but Put isn't listed in the genealogies. What happened? It is listed in Ezekiel 38, when one of the last unfulfilled prophecies takes place.......

I used a poor choice of words Mary. The question should have been: "Does God sanction the curses of an angry drunken, hungover, abusive father who curses one of his sons when he awakens from his drunken stupor."

I find no paralells in the lives of David, Moses, and Paul except all have sinned and come short of the word; and that all apparently were saved by grace through faith.
