Have seen similar on a building that turned out to be lack of compansation ropes/chains. The balance weight was also overweight so the unit was braking and accelerating during up empty journies

I have a manual, they're normally straight forward to set up. contact me if u need a copy. I think they actually went out of business a year or so ago.
