The Ministry in the AMECgreenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread |
I have always wanted to know. After a person is called to the ministry (or believe they have been called),what steps do they take to be ordained or licensed to preach in the AME Church. What are the requirements for ordain in the AME Church and things like that. I am not going into the ministry, but the question came on my mind. (Paul gave some requirements for the ministry in his letters to Timothy and Titus)

Brother Wilson, Your pastor is the first person you should share this good news with. Your pastor will be able and happy to help you understand the process. For your final ordination, Elder, you will need at minimum a Master of Divinity Degree. Be Blessed in your pursuit.pastor paris

Did Pastor Al misread and not read the word "not" re going into the ministry?

Mr. LW Clark, you are correct, I am not going into the ministry. I was just interested in how the process is done in the AMEC. I don't believe God has called me to that type of ministry. I am currently enjoying the YPD ministry as a conference president.

Forgive me, I never saw the "not". As a pastor, I always rejoice when God brings another servant into the ministry. However, God begins his call in His own way. When my eldest son was a baby and ill to the point of death, I asked God to take my life rather than my son's. By the time I arrived home my son was sitting on the floor playing with ABC blocks, healed. I promptly forgot about my offer of my life. Some 25 years later, the Lord reminded me and asked for my life, not to take it. but to allow Him to use me in His ministry. I answered, here am I Lord use me.Be Blessed
