The Question Of God - PBS Seriesgreenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread |
Is anyone watching this series? If not, I highly recommend you check your local PBS station and tune in for the next broadcast. The quality and depth of the discussions about God, the Bible, evil, suffering, goodnes of man, ect. is terrific. I am especially intrigued by the debate between Sigmund Frued & C.S. Lewis and their respective biographies. QED

Brother Dickens: Just thought I would write to say, I have been a C.S. Lewis fan for a long time. I knew about the PBS debate but did not get to watch it. However, for what it's worth, the book THE QUESTION OF GOD, edited by Armand M. Nicoli, Jr. is available from Barnes & Nobele on the Internet. Therein you can read a synopsis of the book as well as comments from the Critics and Customer Reviewes. The book has nine (9) interesting, absorbing chapters to stimulate one's thinking. In that vein, PBS also recently televised an interesting 4 part presentation on "Origins", hosted by Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, African American Astrophysicist, head of the Hayden Planetarium in New York (?). Having been introduced to Astronomy in undergraduate days, my interest in Cosmology and Origins goes hand in hand with my interest in Theology and Apologetics. I recommend the book "Origins" and also the book The Question of God.Shalom, Harold Turner

Parson Turner -Many thanks for the Tyson reference. It's funny you would mention him because I was trying to think of his name about a month ago but was coming up with blanks. I will definitely include his popular works in cosmology for the Christian Book Club I'm proposing at my local church. So, how's life in the 3rd District? QED
