Im looking to buy a single, and have found a perfect boat but im 60kg and its 75-80kg. does this really matter?? It might be used to race competitively but only in small regattas but its main use will just be for personal training on the river.

Answers

The two drawbacks to a boat built for a heavier rower are that it will have more drag and windage than a boat designed for your weight, and that it will sit higher in the water than intended, so the rigging may be too high for you. If you are tall (when seated) this may not be a problem and, if not, you may be able to shim traditional riggers down to a usable height. The extra drag may not bother you, but having rigging that is too high may be very irritating.
