I have just seen the video of Nick Berg's beheading.

What was most disturbing was the perpetrators shouting "Allah Akbar" or "God is Good" while taking the life of another human being.

What kind of religion celebrates death and torture?

My prayers go out to his family for their loss, and that this war will end quickly.

Where is the denunciation of this act from the Islamic clerics if Islam is a religion of peace?

The behavior of these radical Islamic fundamentalist and the behavior of those involved in the torture at Abu Ghraib are demonstrative of the power of satan. According to Bishop Desmond Tutu in GOD HAS A DREAM, we live in moral universe and evil never has the final word. Thank God for that spiritual law. Nevertheless, we must not continue to counter evil with evil less it escalates as in this situation. This beheading was retaliation for the torture at Abu Ghraib. In response to this beheading, shall we as Americans condescend to their level again and committ more heinous acts against humanity?

Wow, while I do not necessarily support the words of pious pete, I am struck by the logic he employs and the irony he uncovers. Calling him satanic and "binding his demons" does not address the points he makes in his response to the posts.

In his response to Rev. Harper he makes an accurate point. I remember all too well how many churches put up American flags and God Bless America on their sign boards and God bless our troops. And what were our troops doing? They were sent to root out the government of Saddam and to kill them. After all didn't we celebrate the death of his sons? Do we not believe that God is blessing our work even as we drop bombs that do nothing but kill the "guilty" and the innocent. I love this country very much, I love our ideals, our freedoms. But are we not somewhat convicted by pious pete here?

His response to RP also raises a point to ponder, we have used our economic strength and military might to impose our view on the world. And for many conservatives the things banned in Islamic societies would be congruent with their thinking. And how would we respond to carpet bombs? Americans gave birth to terrorism along time ago, for years and years white terrorists dressed in white robes and brandishing bombs, guns and other weapons terrorized black citizens and even lynched and burned them with impunity in front of blazing crosses to foster their own view of society. We did not condone it then we must confront it now.

Olivia he may be right, why would you want to witness such gore?

Finally, the Islamic clerics are behaving no differently than the Christian clerics in this country during the days of slavery, and legalized discrimination. For every one who spoke against it thousands spoke for it by their silence. And America still cannot bring it self to apologize for the evils of slavery so the motto continues don't complain don't explain.

Before we utterly denounce pious pete at least read what he has to say some of it should give us pause.
