Has anyone heard any news as to who the frontrunners are this time? Is Dr. Reid still in the race? Will our African churches be satisfied if they only get 2 or 3 homegrown Bihops?

This may be the most interesting General Conference in 32 years!

Dear Rev Cager Not much news is filtering off-shore to our little island of Bermuda and there appears to still be confusion on the position of Rev. Dr. Reid. The African Churches I believe will not be satisfied (and they should not be)with only 2 or 3. The recent attacks on posts from Africa and even one of mine are very disturbing. Rev. Paris has also had the same occur.

If the Church seeks to ignore Africa I believe it will be at a significant price. Leadership from outside of the 50 States has not appeared to hurt the Church and I believe the Church should embrace at least 4-5 external candidates as I have thrown my support for Candidate Sen. Rev. Dr. Santucci.

I certainly agree with you on your last point. This will be the most interesting GC. I pray we will come out better than when we entered in. Blessings from Bermuda

Mr. Brangman,

I'm glad you brought up Senator Santucci. I've visited his website but have not gotten clarification to a rumor that I have heard. Is it his intention (if elected) to go and serve in Africa (provided the seats are designated), or am I confusing him with Rev. Mkwanazi? Also, if elected, does Senator Santucci desire to serve anywhere other than the 16th district?

Dear Rev.Cager Senator Rev. Dr. Santucci is not fixed on serving just in the Missionary Districts. His financial empowerment proposal may suggest he work within the first 13 Districts to assist in a roll-out if agreed. He has been well received by Churches in the 5th, 6th,2nd and First Episcopal Districts. He enjoys a very good relationship with members of the Connectional Presiding Elders Council as well as the Council of Bishops of our Church.

I am reasonably certain that if elected he would be happy to be assigned in the United States as well as the Missionary Districts.If his finance proposal does receive approval by the General Conference it would be best for him to remain on the United States main land. But first the matter is whether he will succeed in his bid for both the economic elevation of the Church and then his elevation to Episcopal Honors. May God Bless You Rev.

In re: my last post, I meant to say does Rev. Dr. Santucci desire to serve outside of Bermuda? I know it's not in the 16th - I was looking at Bishop DeVeaux' site and mis-typed.

No Problem Rev. With only eleven Churches in Bermuda our Presiding Elder is more of the socially accepted Bishop. Rev. Santucci has no problem working in our Global Church.
