Today, Sunday May 2, 2004, my message came from Jonah 3:1 "The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time saying . . . ." My argument is that God is a god of second chance; even to the point of changing his mind as he did with the city of Nineveh. He also gave Jonah another second chance when he became angry because God changed his mind and did not destroy Nineveh. And as He did with Jonah and Nineveh, he also will with us as individuals and also as a nation. I believe our nation (United States needs to ask God for another chance, else it will be destroyed. What do you think?Be Blessed

One of my favorite passages. The Bible is rife with people who received second (and third, fourth, fifth, etc.) chances.

The last chapter of Jonah suggests the racist and reluctant prophet still struggled with God's application of grace and mercy. Perhaps a more representative figure of "second chance" opportunities was the evil King of Judah, Manasseh. According to II Chronicles 33:11-13, he humbled himself before God and repented of his wicked ways. QED
