OK, so I called 3 different authorized MV dealers in FL.....and got 3 different quotes for the first service: $450, $900, and $1200....all for the SAME service!! Is this common? What have others generally paid for a first service?

I just paid $284 yesterday and Beaudrdy Motorsports came to my house to get and return the bike. They are 8 hours away in Idaho!!!

I think I paid around $250 to $300 about two years ago for the first service in Tucson, AZ. I think GP Moto in San Diego (next closet MV dealer) was roughly the same price.

I got my 600 mile service check at Fast by Ferracci. This service included: 1. Oil Filter + gasket 2. 4 quarts of oil (Agip synthetic) 3. 1 eprom chip ($100) 4. 3 hours labor

All told, only $367. The eprom chip was added because the dealer (Motofixx in Connecticut) where i bought the bike and had the rg3's installed, installed the WRONG chip!.. so you can subtract $100 from that bill. FBF is supposed to be one of the best service stations around, so i would have to say someone is out to hose you!

I'm in the UK so the pricing is a little different:

first service: 600 miles - with valve check to be on the safe side £35.00 inc VAT.

Thats about $450.00 at the current exchange rate I believe!

I did have to do all the actual work myself though.

Thanks for all the responses....after to talking to Cagiva USA today, it has become obvious to me that dealers can basically charge anything they want for service work. Its seems I may have to travel quite a ways to get the job done right at a reasonable price.

Mine was $450 about two weeks ago. Mostly labor. I only live about 4 miles from the dealer. The salesman told me it might cost 600 bucks for the first service before I bought the bike. No fixed rate.

I just paid $375 for the first service (including tax) at Cycle Imports in Dallas. The mechanic also installed my Hyperlites/Badlands Load Balancer from Pirate's Lair ( www.piratesk12site.net ) and my throttlemeister. He did a sweet job removing the fender/license plate assembly and making a VERY CLEAN install of the hyperlites (another $300 for all the work).

Yo! Lucky for you people out there who can avail services with different dealers. We service our own bikes here, we just buy our parts and refer to the 'ol service and parts manual. i get parts from Casoli, FBF and some other blokes except from MV themselves. I noticed that some parts are already if not almost the same as the one's being used by other jap bikes (such as oil filters, plugs, etc.) so they are not already hard to find items in the market.
