call "escalator handrail company", they'll send in a man to volcanize your handrail. they're a union outfit too.

I really feel sorry for u....(sorry only kidding...couldnt really give a stuff).....call the professionals if u dont know how to do it. If you have taken on a contract and cant do it then you are a moron....(was going to us a lot worse langauge but decided not to)....the best way is to superglue the 2 ends together then shut it down for weeks until you realise that to joint a handrail isnt a 10 minute job and give it to someone who knows what they are doing(Oh by the way I before anyone starts at me I have a fair bit of escalator experience (both in callback and maintainance) but would NEVER know even where to start joining one..it is a specialised job)

Valcanising is mainly thing of the pass. If the handrail has been on that long a new one is your best bet. We valcanised alot in the past when handrails came open ended, but modern escalators come with closed ended handrails. Very old escalators needed open ened handrails, if yours is that old I think it's time for a replacement!

First of all, I'm also a UNION elevator man (32 yrs.), but I don't see the need to call anyone a moron. A simple "you don't appear to be union, so I'm sorry, we can't help you" might more appropriately convey the same message a little more humanely. Also, the process is called vulcanized/vulcanizing.
