i am doing a report on Edgar allen poe and i was wondering if his childhood memorable or wanted to be forgotten???

He seemed to have a happy childhood, especially in his American schooldays. The already existing tinge of personal melancholy was understandably heightened by his education in Britain. Loss of parents, separation from siblings made his sensitive nature perhaps more disposed to melancholy dwellings but the Allans in the early days were very supportive and his school friends normal and companionable. That inner life he writes about in "Alone".

It is in his teenage and college years with the death of Mrs. Allan and estrangement form Mr. Allan, the death of his brother and Mrs. Stanard and the disastrous courtship of Ellen Royster that forms a long stretch of "wildness" disappointment and trouble. that period seems to end with the marriage to Virginia Clem, but in the continuity with the past(always there in Poe, little is completely changed or resolved)his literary career also was tumultuous and controversial.

I'd would have to say his childhood was decent up to the point of his foster mother dying. He never really knew his mother, so i do not believe that effected his childhood. However, after Mrs. Allen's death, he ended up dealing with addictions, gambling and an upsupportive Mr. Allen.

he hated his childhood. frist his mother dies and then his brother then his step mother and his step father and real father both hated him. that is way he joined the army and got out of there as soon as he could. he lived with death all aorund him. if i were him i would of just killed my self in the war.

poes childhood wasnt a complete disaster though losing your parents isnt easy either he was very talented as a child and very high in his academics he was one of the top students in all of his shcools and as I read he was very happy as a child though not liked much by his classmates for being shy

I think that he lose of his patrents was a step in to a pattern of uncopalbe tagicideis of the loss of some meny of his loved one caused is lifto to get soo srcewed up.

I think he wanted to forget his childhood. He lost everyone he could count on; whether by death, or some evil step-foster mother turning the whole family against you.
