I agree that there are so many it is hard to pick one, but if I had to it would be #77, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing and next would be: #373, Savior, More Than Life To Me. Good Question

Actually, Rev. Paris, #77 is the favorite song of my angel as well. Thetre ahve been a few occasions when I have been in difficult situations, and when I start singing that hymn, supernatural help prevails.

Didn't Roberta Flack and Donnie Hathaway record a version of "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing"? If so, where can I obtain a copy? QED

Roberta Flack and Donny Hatthaway sang "Come Ye Discounsolate". If that is what you are thinking of.

I am not an AME an do not know if it is in the Hymnal, but I love "Great is Thy Faithfulness".

One of my favorites is #200 Blessed Quietness. It is good to know that on the stormy sea He speaks peace to me and the billows cease to roll.

Carmen -

Thanks for the correction. I was indeed thinking about 'Come Ye, Disconsolate'. QED

Sis. Carmen, Yes, "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" is one of the most favored hymns found in the AME Hymnal. I think it is a hymn that crosses all denominational lines.

I have a friend who is a member of the Church of God who sings it with such gusto.

At the AME Lay Biennial Convention in Rochester, New York Rev. Belin, Bishop Belins's son sang it until there was not a dry eye in the house.

Every time I hear it, I remember one of our great pastors, Rev. C. Wesley Gordon, who loved the hymn and included it in our worship services very often.

Another hymn that I find myself singing when I am alone is, "He Touched Me." And he surely has!

My answer to this question will have to be "To God be the Glory, Great Things he has Done". So many times I overlook the mundane things in life, such as waking up in the morning and going to sleep at night. This song provides me with the rememberance that the Glory belongs to God and him alone. Good things may happen-- thank God! Bad things may happen -- thank God anyway, for it makes you stronger and wiser. O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son, And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

My great grand father who was a Baptist deacon and organ player taught me "I need thee every Hour" and "Blessed Assurance"

I'm United Methodist, I'm sure that my favorite hymn "Blessed Assurance" is in the hymnal.

Blessed Assurance is found on page 450 of the AME Hymnal. It was my mother's favorite as well.
