MUSCATINE, Iowa, Jan 08, 2004 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- U.S. Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean says Christian faith swayed his decision as governor to sign the bill legalizing gay unions in Vermont. "The overwhelming evidence is that there is very significant, substantial genetic component to it," Dean said in an interview with the Washington Post published Thursday. "From a religious point of view, if God had thought homosexuality is a sin, he would not have created gay people."

Dean waded deeper into the growing political, religious and cultural debate over homosexuality and the Bible's view of it and at a time gay marriage is emerging as a defining social issue of the 2004 elections.

"My view of Christianity ... is that the hallmark of being a Christian is to reach out to people who have been left behind," Dean told reporters earlier.

He said he does not consider homosexuality a sin but opposes gay marriage. The Vermont law grants gay couples the same rights as if they were married.

Time after time, Howard Dean has proven to me that he don't enough about the Holy Bible to quote half of a verse and he is NOT the best representative of the Democratic Party in this presidential race(My Opinion). Dean will not get my vote in the South Carolina Primary (my first time voting in a presidental primary). Apparently, he never read these scriptures.

This is very interesting. Howard Dean fails the logic test. When he says homosexuality is not a sin because God created gay people then does it follow that lying is not a sin because God created liars, fornicators, adulterers, murderers etc. etc.

This is the problem that arises when we try to legislate for a society where the free exercise of religion is a right given to all. Dean's liberal view is no more valid than the awful proof texting that Brother Wilson displayed. Brother Wilson, I cannot engage in proof texting because it is against my religion but if you read some of your offered text in context the net you cast applies far beyond the homosexual, in fact you cite verses that exclude even you from the assembly.

Life was much simpler when all the gay people were closeted and all the abortions were back alley. But now that they are out in the open we need rational Christian approaches to deal with them among those of us who call ourselves Christian, but yet at the same time recognize that not everyone feels subject to the same Spiritual practices and beliefs that we embrace.

How can a Christian walk uprightly in a secular world?

Christians should follow the example of Jesus. After saying, "I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed....' (Luke 17:34) after which He made no further comment about the two men in one bed. Christians should do likewise.
