I have to laugh cuz this was my 1st IQ test. Having barely made it thru high school I've stayed away from these things. Barbara harrassed me into taking this and to my amazment I scored 120!!! I really hope I get some better respect around here. here's the site if you DARE. Ha! Ha!....Kirkhttp://web.tickle.com/tests/uiq/

Okay, so what's the answer to the damn car question?! The one where they drive 6 miles, turn left and go eight more miles and how far apart are they? Is this some freaking geometry question? I hate geometry!! And the one where he likes 400, but not 300? Is it 1000 or 1100? Huh? Which one? I NEED to know! (But not $15 worth!)Thanks Kirk! You got my brain cells going this morning!

My kids showed me that one several months ago.......turns out everyone who takes it is a genius! :) Guess they wouldnt get anyone to buy their stuff if they insulted their intelligence, eh?Polly, geometry was the only math I ever liked! I think I got that one, but that other one you mentioned was the one that totally stumped me and I just guessed on.

Well Polly I think those were er a the only ones I missed! Okie dokie!E.M. You really know how to deflate a guys ego!! Well at least I got to think I was smart for a couple of days anyway. Gosh this is the worst Xmas ever......JUST TEASING!!!......Kirk

Polly, 14 miles on a diaginal and 1000 in logicalsequence. Not everyone rates high. Myself and four who work for me rated 95, 109, 127, 132 and 134 . That range logically indicates that the test is moderately accurate at least.

AHA! So it was geometry! On the 1000 one, Jay; did it have something to do with being divisible by a certain number?Hubs and I took the test separately; got 122 and 133. Then we went through the test together and argued about the answers! (I still say I'm right!) 133 sounds right for me - it's the range that I've been in ever since grade school. I don't agree with basing expectations of people's abilities on IQ tests tho - I've got "does not work up to her level of ability" written all over me! But then again, just the other day I read an article about Hyper-Cerebral Electrosis. Y'know - where your brain circuts become so overloaded by the body's own electricity that your head explodes? No, really! I already have 6 out of 7 of the warning signs, so I figure I'd better be careful!
Kirk, remember - I've seen photos of your house. I KNOW you're a genius!

We already know how smart you are, Kirk! As far as school goes, Einstein did terrible there too!I do not give any credence to IQ tests anywho, especially online ones. Since the average person's IQ is supposedly 100, way too many folks seem to end up with much higher numbers, and few end up having scores below 100, which doesn't make sense. From what I've read, these quizzes give a very unrealistic assessment overall of even straight IQ (a very poorly understood concept at best anyway), much less perhaps the real measure of one's intelligence: the ability to solve problems and live a happy and balanced life.

What a riot; we must all get the same popups!Wifey and I took the test; I got a 138; she got a 122. But it was late at night when she took it, and she was very tired. In school, our teachers were not "allowed" to tell us the results of or IQ tests, but my mom claimed my IQ was almost 140. so maybe the test is somewhat representative. However, it's too short to be accurate. One simple goof up would have a big impact on a such a short test.
"Okay, so what's the answer to the damn car question?! The one where they drive 6 miles, turn left and go eight more miles and how far apart are they? Is this some freaking geometry question? For a used to be math whiz such as I, those were easy. The car one is simply adding the two hypotenuses of the two right triangles which are corner to corner. Just figure out how far one car went, and double that distance, is the easiest way to figure it. Each car drove two sides of a right triange, so to figure the hypotenuse, add the square of each side together (36 plus 64), which gives you 100. Square root of 100 is 10. Double the ten, and the two cars are 20 miles apart.
Seeing as how I'm a retired builder, I didn't even have to do the math. There's this thing called a "three, four, five right triangle" which is a simple way to square a wall. It so happens that the cars drove two sides of three, four, five right triangles. (the six miles is twice the three, the eight miles is twice the four, so the hypotenuse is twice the five, or ten miles.
Clear as mud, right?
The one about where the guy doesn't like some numbers. I don't remember what the numbers were, but the ones he liked were n numbers which had whole numbers as square roots, such as four, nine, sixteen, twenty-five, etc.
By the way, when my honey and looked at our answers, we found that at least some of the questions had more than one correct answer, though I suspect the testers don't realize it. So you may have gotten some answers technically correct, and stilll gotten the answer "wrong" by their standards. So you're likely "smarter" than the test indicates. I can't remember all the questions which had two (at least) correct answers, but here is one:
On the one which asked which animal is not like the others, I answered Kangaroo, since it's a marsupial, and the rest are mammals. Buy my hon answered "mule", because mules are sterile, and the others are not.. Cool, eh?
One of the questions had an answer which we answered the same, but for different reasons, strangely enough. It asked about which fruit was different than the others. She answered grape, because the rest grew on trees. I also answered grape, but because the rest had pits.
I then proceeded to test the accuracy by deliberately making all the answers wrong, or at least as many as I could be sure were wrong. I got a score of 72, which is the score of someone who basically cannot even feed himself. Here's what the testers said (the funniest part is that I'm a "creative thinker" :) :
Congratulations, jumpoff! Your IQ score is 72 This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Emode's Classic IQ test. Your IQ score is scientifically accurate; to read more about the science behind our IQ test, click here. During the test, you answered four different types of questions — mathematical, visual-spatial, linguistic and logical. We were able to analyze how you did on of those questions, which reveals the way your brain processes information. We also compared your answers with others who have taken the test, and according to the sorts of questions you got correct, we can tell your Intellectual Type is an Inventive Inquisitor. You have the unusual distinction of being equally good at math and verbal skills. This means you are a creative thinker and are uniquely good at teaching others through experiences. You are also a great improviser and very good at handling change. Find out more about your unique intellectual strengths in your personalized 15-page IQ report. It's ready right now!
Polly, my dear, don't be a dummy! If you and your kids all got genius scores, it's not the test. You just live in a genius family!
Sorry, Jay, but the answer is not 14 miles on the diagonal. And the other answer is not 1000; the square root of 1000 is not an even number. (hmm. It's been too long, but I think MAYBE the term for that is "perfect square????)
What is so logical about the sequence which gives you the answer of 1000? I don't remember the numbers. What's the url of this stupid site, anyway?

http://web.tickle.com/tests/uiq/Duh - I come in here to start typing it; and look up and there it is at the end of Kirk's original post!
Joe, you lost me at hypotenuse. And please, I'm begging you - DON'T try to explain it to me - I don't have that much aspirin in the house!
Maybe we just need to copy the test to the forum; and then we can all argue about the answers. I can't remember what the other choices were besides the mule and the kangaroo, but I was thinking I chose the kanga because all the others had hooves, maybe? Guess I'll have to go look at the test again, too.
-- Anonymous, January 13, 2004
Yeah, I chose kanga 'cause the other ones all had hooves. Please don't anyone tell me that kangas have hooves too!!It wasn't the square root question, Joe; I got that one pretty fast. It was this one:
John likes 400, but not 300. He likes 100, but not 99. He likes 3600, but not 3700. Which does he like:
a. 900 b. 1000 c. 1100 d. 1200
-- Anonymous, January 13, 2004
Polly, that would be 900. of those are the choices; It IS the "sqare root question". The square root of 900 is 30 (30x30=900) The square root of the others are not even numbes, and in fact are never ending fractions.Ok, so if you don't want to learn about hypotenuse (and it's easy; all a hypotenuse is is the long side of a right triangle. I DIDN'T EXPLAIN; I JUST TOLD YOU WHAT ONE IS!!!)
Could I at least tell you a really dumb joke about the Pythagorean theorem? (The one which explains how to solve for the hypotenuse if you know the two sides)
About Kanga, or is it Roo? Of course they don't have hooves. Everyone knows that Kangaroos have boxing gloves!
-- Anonymous, January 13, 2004
Duh. Okay, so there are TWO questions with square roots involved. I thought about it after I had already posted; but didn't have enough brain power to figure the square root of 3600. Yeah, there's a calculator around here somewhere, but I didn't have energy enough to get up and look for it, either!Anyway, thanks!

And yes, I'm always up for a dumb joke - even if I can't understand it!
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2004
This big tribal chief, who has lthree wives, keeps his favorite wife on a hippopatmus skin, as this was considered the finest to sleep on in that part of the world. His number two and three wives slept on whatever other kind of hydes he could round up.
About a year after he set up his family in this way, the number two and number three wives gave birth to a boy each. But lo and behold, wifey number one had twin boys.
The moral being that the squaw on the hippopatumus is equal to the sum of the squaws on the two hydes.
Dumb, huh?
I could tell you the one about the African king who lived in a grass house...not a lot better, tho

JOJ,Groan....no wonder I found geometry too obtuse....
Always up for a good joke though!

.no wonder I found geometry too obtuse. What? was that a Freudian slip? Maybe you should have stuck to acute.
