Poe's tragic life affected his worksgreenspun.com : LUSENET : The Work of Edgar Allan Poe : One Thread |
I'm writing a paper on Poe about how tragedy in his life surfaces in his works. I chose "The Raven" as one work because of all the women that died in his life and the effects it had on him. Is there another work that I could use as well that specifically connects events in his life to the subject matter of the work? I would really appreciate all opinions! Thank you

"Annabel Lee" is thought to be of his wife, Virginia. "To Helen" is another poem where you might make a connection to a childhood love.

well i am also writing a paper on poe and what i realized is that all of his poems have something to do with his life experiences. like the bridal ballad that one is about the last women he loved. she was a widow and you can see that in his poem.
