WHERE DID ALL THE LINKS GO?greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread |
Where did all the web links go? I have tried the link to the Independent Undenominational Christian Churches and Churches of Christ found on the Restoration Movement web sites, but it has been gone for about two years now. Where can I direct enquiries for a brief history of this fellowship of churches?

Philip, are you asking about one particular website, or Restoration Movement websites in general?I don't know what has happened to the particular one or ones you are looking for, but I do know what happened to one Restoration Movement website. "9/11" is what happened -- plus the paranoia that followed the event. The Mission Services website closed down shortly after "9/11". Their reason? They had included online copies of newsletters they publish, and e-mail addresses for a lot of missionaries. (It was the main source I used when I needed to contact some missionary that I didn't already have an e-mail address for.) They were afraid that these might somehow get into the hands of Muslim terrorists who might use them to harass or endanger the missionaries. So, rather than ASK who might not want their addresses or newsletters published, they arbirarily took it all off! It is possible others might have reacted in similar ways. (What a pity the spammers were not similarly intimidated!)
Anyway, I'm trying to lobby for Mission Services to reinstate the website and to reinstate all the information and services they formerly provided (including online newsletters and e-mail addresses) for all who are willing to have their information published in this way. Let the individual missionaries decide for themselves!
