what religon did poe have? or what religon was he?

Poe was 'reared' in the protestant faith with catholic influences in his immediate family. The Allen's were protestants I believe. Poe spent time in England with his tobacco merchant step-father and was well educated and versed in both the Christian and Islamic scriptures (translations thereof). As for Poe's poetry with religious overtones I'd say look to the short story of Fall of the House of Usher and read the translation from the Koran at the beginning of the story. Then read the poem "Israfel". I'm sure that there are more, but these are two of his works that come to mind.
