To my AME family: I am interested in learning more about the position of Exhorter as defined on p.135 of the 2000 Discipline. Do any of you have a licensed exhorter in your local church? If so, what duties does that person have?

I would suggest that you pick up a copy of "Methodist Polity" written by Bishop Henry McNeal Turner. Within this book, he defines the role of the Exhorter. Copies of this book are available for purchase via the AME Publishing House in Nashville (aka the AME Sunday School Union).
