I've seen better romance flick than kare kano. I watch the first six ep and it only centers on a boy and a girl who eventually fell in love. First 3 ep is in girls perspective, the next 3 the boys perspective, you see the pattern.

Although the series is a romance-comedy, the creator used it explore the psychology of relationships and school. THe "ending" was very abrupt. And it doesn't look like the series will be continued so...

It is very good. I've never seen a more true to life love story in an anime. You must keep in mind the creator of this one though, it's the same guy that did Eva and FLCL, so you can see why it might be a bit of a mind fuck in places, but all in all a wonderful story, you can buy the dvd's and manga in the US almost anywhere.
