We came in the middle the whole time (except for once when we came in last in a class of 34) So, this buckling came in second when in a class of three. I had two does in a class of 16, we came in 7 and 8 (I had help from 4Hers. My son helped move them and get me stuff, especially soda but wouldn't show the goats) My one kid the judge liked but kept looking at her (that was the moment the little thing would act up, being only 3 months old) but she turned out to have knocked knees in the back so he put her fourth. He did say that if I breed my does to a really bulky buck that I would have some really nice kids next year. Someone said I can use his so we will see... All in all, it was fun. I even didn't mind washing the goats in the pouring rain.
As you saw, I won the gingerbread contest. However, there were orginally 11 people but all but two of us cancelled because of the humidity. It kept making the cookies fall apart. Mine fell apart twice. I had the airconditioner on full with the oven crisping the cookies inbetween. I had to put cardboard in for support. The one candy post poked through the base. When I brought it to the fair, they wanted me to park and carry it about a mile in. No way. I had to glue three horses back on as it was. Anyway, I wonder how well I would have done if there were more entries. It was good until we tried to take it home, then it collapsed. Anyone want a cookie.

That's better, Dee.......great pictures!! You look wonderful, your carousel is unbelievable! Is that little buck part boer?

Yes, this was an open Boer show. He was in the 4 month percentage class. I was hoping to find someone to buy him because he really is a sweetheart. On the funny side, I forgot that I had to go into the champions class and ran all the way back to the ring with him in my arms, yelling, "Coming through"
In another class we were dead last in a class of 34 (I brought this doeling for the sole purpose of selling her, which I did) And I didn't realize the judge makes a final look. People in the audience called me to attention....like he would take last place and put it in the winning lineup :)
The judge told me to breed my does to a stocky buck and I'll have fantastic kids next year. He liked the fact that mine were long. Lets face it, I couldn't compete with the fuller percentages.
There was one woman there that I was looking at the doe funny. Someone asked me why. I said,"Does she only have one teat and half a bag?" Feet weren't trimmed, no bath and when it pooped, it was one lump. My first thought was, who would think their goat was good. The second was, I hope my goats don't catch anything from them.
