Don't soil yourself, Kirk. Go vote for Arianna!
-- Anonymous, August 07, 2003
Vote for Gary Coleman. At least then when they go after him, his comeback will be a note worthy sound bite :>)
-- Anonymous, August 07, 2003
Vote for your own write-in candidate, Kirk! Hmmm...now who would be suitable. Maybe Mickey Mouse or Goofy??!!
-- Anonymous, August 07, 2003
Now, now, remember Ronald Regan really didn't do a bad job there.
-- Anonymous, August 07, 2003
Reagan? You're kidding right? what did he do that was a good job??
-- Anonymous, August 07, 2003
Kirk . . . I'm shocked . . . you, an immigrant basher?Just joshing guy - you're way better than that. California politicians - what are you going to do with 'em? Maybe vote for the stripper - at least you know you will be **rewed by a professional.
I really shouldn't be talking . . . right now, my state has the distinguised honor of politicians walking out and staying in New Mexico so as to avoid voting on measures they don't agree with.
-- Anonymous, August 07, 2003
BTW, the stripper quip above was not my observation (I'm not smart enough to make that up) . . . I read it on a another Bboard and thought it pretty well summed up my thoughts on the matter. :^)

Another take on the Texas situation: legislators refusing to participate in a repeated illegal right-wing attempt to hijack the state.
-- Anonymous, August 07, 2003
Makes about as much sense as most political stuff these days...Hey, Arnie's married to Maria Shriver. He can't be all that bad, can he? 8-)
-- Anonymous, August 09, 2003
Just hope you dont end up on death row with Arnold as gov. Bad enough to be getting ready to be popped without getting a stay of execution reply that says "Hasta LaVista Baby, your not coming baaaack" :>)
-- Anonymous, August 09, 2003
Actually you'd probably be in bigger trouble if GW were the gov, since he holds a record for murdering murderers, you know, to show them how wrong it is to murder?
-- Anonymous, August 09, 2003
Doesnt really bother me what goes on in California. Wonder if someone will think to play the state song on a caliope at the polls? I'll be watching the circus for entertainment as most all of the nation.
-- Anonymous, August 10, 2003
The Huffingtons are interesting people. 1st he runs for Gov and trys to buy his way in spending millions of his fortune. He loses and comes out of the closet. Ariaina gets pissed divorces the jerk then goes on a 2 year slugfest slamming all liberals. Then one day she finds compassion and turns instead bashing ALL conservatives. She went from huge SUV to a small hybid. Of course she sounds wonderful now but I don't think she gets very many votes.......Course there is that stripper!!! ......kirk

I just love her......watch her on Bill Maher's show all the time, and so forth....She's hysterically witty and good at zinging her opponents, and terribly bright and familiar with the issues. I sent her money!! Perhaps Arianna could be convinced to strip? ;)
-- Anonymous, August 10, 2003
Yea she has a column at Salon that I never miss. I love what she has to say. Just a hint of mistrust tho. Do you have any idea why she changed so radically EM? .....

With as many running, it would be a hoot if they spread the vote so thin that Davis gets to finish out his term. Then they get to add the cost of a worthless election to their deficit. :>)
-- Anonymous, August 10, 2003
Yeah Jay, it would, but my understanding is that it isn't set up that way. It's a two question ballot: first question is yea or nay to whether Davis should be recalled. Second question is, if enough Californians think he should be recalled, who should replace him?I don't like Davis; he's just another corporate toady phony democrat as far as I'm concerned, but the repubs are once again displaying their lack of sportsmanship by this recall. They refuse to accept defeat, and when they lose, they play dirty, either by what they did to Clinton for 8 freakin years, or this sort of thing.
I think it's cool though that the CA system is set up in such a populist way; any ol body can run for office, and I think that's how it should be.
Kirk, my understanding of the timeline on Arianna's life is different than what you stated, so I'm gonna check to see if I had something wrong. I'll get back to you on that........

I thought I heard on the radio this weekend that there's something like 500 people on the ballot now? Please tell me that I misheard! That ballot is going to look like a phone book!
-- Anonymous, August 11, 2003
Nah, more sensationalism, Sherri. There WERE like that many expressing interest or something, but I think about 150 qualified, and it will be pared down considerably before the vote.
-- Anonymous, August 11, 2003
Just heard on NPR that the CA ballot may be about a dozen pages long! :)
-- Anonymous, August 11, 2003
Think of all the trees that are being sacrificed to print those ballots :>)
-- Anonymous, August 11, 2003
yes, hopefully they are using recycled paper!
-- Anonymous, August 11, 2003
Sheesh. Just think if this re-call were being held in Florida! What a ballot nightmare....Hey, can we re-call Shrub? Let's put 200 million Americans on the ballot and see if it flies!!!
-- Anonymous, August 11, 2003
excellent idea
-- Anonymous, August 12, 2003
247 contestants as of today! Our poor counties are stuggling to figure out how to pay for the election. Maybe they should write the names on toilet paper. Do the voting in our public bathrooms? Heck then re-cycle WIPE with the results!!!!! Hey I'm on to this! The only good thing is that rich repubican who started it has dropped out! Ha! He may need to avoid the lynch mob before this one is over....Kirk

Hey Kirk, maybe you could send one of those candidates over here to Indiana to replace our poor governor. Isn't there a stripper on the ballot? Maybe she could change the law in Indiana so we can buy alcohol on Sunday. :)Actually Governor OBannon is a very nice guy and it's a sad situation. He's one of those sweet country gentlemen who can disagree with someone without making them an enemy. And our poor Lt Governor was just about to quit politics and buy a minor league baseball team, now he's stuck being Governor for the next year and a half.
-- Anonymous, September 09, 2003
Yeah, that's a sad thing, sherri. I can think of a few politicians who deserve it more than him, can't you?
-- Anonymous, September 09, 2003
Well congratulations, Kirk, ol boy! Y'all in Caleefornee have now gone one way better than Minnesnowta in the elect-a-celebrity-with- testosterone-overload department! How incredibly depressing.
