Sharing an iTunes Librarygreenspun.com : LUSENET : SpannMan's Logbook : One Thread |
This morning I began experimenting with the concept of sharing an iTunes library among the users on my home Macintosh computer. All of the media files now reside on a volume called "Music". In each user's home directory is a folder called Music. It is in this folder that iTunes stores all of it's database information about music files and playlists. Since at one point all user's on my machine used one login, spannman, I copied the Music folder from spannman's home folder into the shared folder under user's area of the OS X drive. Once there, I changed group permissions to have full access. Then, for all users on the system, I replaced their Music folder with a symbolic link to the shared music folder. Seems to work.
