Distractions From Gracegreenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread |
Ciao, Mr. Moderator,
Exhibitionists have apparently settled in with this forum again. I noticed James XWing posting or reviving multiple threads about Legionnaries of Christ. This is a disgruntled ex-seminarian who nagged us constantly months back; with only one aim: to pour scorn on a religious order from which he was expelled. XWing is a poor drone with a malicious agenda. His presence amidst the faithful here is a terrible misfortune, IMO /Another persistent poster is ''Emerald''. He saturates some threads mercilessly day after day. His pet theme: our unworthy ''modernist'' Catholic faith after Vatican II. Emerald has been answered patiently through the last months without much reward. It seems he'll never desist; as if he had a Blues Brothers' ''Mission from God''. Many of us have long since lost interest in his supercilious think-pieces. There is no grace to be gained arguing either with James XWing or Emerald. Both have always been tiresome to read, and Emerald, God bless him is lengthening now, instead of relaxing his verbosity. He's a terrible distraction from God's grace, I'm afraid.
Well-- this is a free country. If James XWing and Emerald love it here so much, they are welcome to remain indefinitely. For my part, I think I will save myself the daily temptation to react causticly.
I've made up my mind not to contribute any longer while those two gentlemen stay. My own contributions here are far from indispensable and I know the forum will continue in good faith without me.
If these two disappear after a week or two, I might reappear. I'll take stock after a few days.
I sincerely thank you Paul; and so many other faithful Catholics here; for your generosity to me. I'll remember you all in my prayers. May God be with you, bless and protect you from all harm and misfortune. Amen.

I'm in complete agreement with Eugene, and would highly suggest that Emerald be banned from the forum.

Hello, Gene.Sorry that I didn't see this thread earlier -- i.e., before I had posted a message (about Xwing) to the Moderator on each of the old threads that the former revived today.
Sorry too to read that you are going, even though it be temporary. As I have done in the past, I will let you know via e-mail when the "coast is clear" (i.e., if it doesn't happen soon enough for you to see it yourself).
Hasta la vista.
St. James, please pray for this forum!!!
John

"Another persistent poster is ''Emerald''. He saturates some threads mercilessly day after day. His pet theme: our unworthy ''modernist'' Catholic faith after Vatican II. Emerald has been answered patiently through the last months without much reward."This one's pretty simple, Eugene. There really is a modernism problem. The answers received have come back without reward because... because there is truth to the concerns of a modernist infestation. There really is a real problem; that's why it can't be answered. It's the truth.

JmjHello again, Gene.
Earlier, I responded to you announced depature by saying: "I will let you know via e-mail when the 'coast is clear.'"Today, I have decided to withdraw that offer. Instead I will join you on the sidelines (except for my daily updates to the "saints" threads). I won't read thread or write on them here until the forum is fully cleaned up.
I am not going to allow my eyes to be polluted by messages from James "Xwing" and "Emerald." I am not going to waste time replying to hard-headed ex-Cahtolics like them. They need to depart immediately and voluntarily -- or they need be banned. That's all there is to it. Either they go, or I go (permanently). Because of people like these, this is no longer the forum that I used to know and love.
If the forum becomes "habitable" again, maybe someone will be kind enough to send both you and me some e-mail to let us know.
God bless you.
John

I think the worst of the problems here are a result of the "impersonator." Its not pleasent seeing your name under a nasty reply composed by someone else. Why not simply stop responding to those whose posts you find offensive or simply not worth the effort. Put blinders on! If you guys go, there won't be many left other than Paul who are qualified to answer legit questions. I'd try to answer but I'm afraid my answers are more like personal opinions. Best of luck what ever your final decisions are. Jim

Emerald shouldn't be spoken of as though his posts are on the same level with Xwings. His reasoning may (may) be flawed, but at least it's an attempt at reasoning and argumentation. Xwing doesn't argue. He just accuses without proof or evidence.
So I think Emerald is much more reasonable.

Is xwing now gone? Is emerald now gone?

moderator,it is a great loss to this forum that both eugene and john, both of whom i hold in high regard, have chosen to leave this forum until such time as two non noteworthy posters have left. my return to the forum after a month away is certainly saddenned by this news.
granted the rules of this forum, which state that assaults against the catholic church are not allowed here, and the repeated offenses against this rule, by way of insulting an order of the church and repeatedly claiming the church is being lost to modernism, it would seem to me that there is a very clear path to be taken here. i feel that the forum would most benefit with the banning of the two transgressors, although from my reading it appears as though they are gone already, and a letter sent to eugene and john to invite them to return.
my opinion may not hold as much water here in the forum, ive only been posting here for a little over 4 months, but i do know that during that time ive learned unmeasurable amounts from john and eugene, and would not like to see their permanent departure from here.
best wishes

You can come out of your self-imposed exile now.I have no problem with people disagreeing with traditional Catholics, but when your ecumenical efforts default into flame mode and you accuse people of being Minions of Satan simply for their traditional Catholic beliefs, or support those who make such claims, you violate the principles of your own New Springtime as well as the Lord's Prayer.
'nuff said; Adios.
