I can't find any good sites on Poe's alcohol problem, the sites I found don't have alot of info. Do you know of any sites that have alot of info on poe's alcohol problem?

Someone below posted a lot of research tying together much of the evidence to show Poe's drinking was more than enough to seriously effect his health although I can't judge how serious any one bender or long period of regular drinking(tavern style in general) might have been.

The evidence is scattered and spotty, Poe's admissions both apolgetic and rationalizing, seeking to lessen the offense as much as admit his shame and helplessness(which he would not or could not deal with too honestly) especially in showing himself drunk in front of the ladies in his life. The effect of one drink seems to be explained in his own fiction("The Black cat" "Hop Frog"), showing his undue reaction and excitement.
