Seaboard Combine #259 returnsgreenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread |
Former SAL vintage 1913 combine No.253 has recently returned to the Gold Coast RR Museum in Miami after having undergone a full restoration carried out by the National Park Service at Steamtown in Scranton, PA. The car looks great! Anyone who has the opportunity to see it should do so. The Museum has owned the car since 1959, and it had been routinely used on SAL's Tampa-Venice trains in the late '50's. The Park Service restored the car to its 1950s appearance, with the original divided sections for segregated service intact. After being badly damaged by Hurricane Andrew in '92, it's good to see this car looking factory-new.
