Here's a thought..."The Fisher Forum"greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread |
In honor of Rev. John Fisher, the one responsible for bringing birth to this "internet family," we should ponder for a moment upon renaming this discussion board "The Fisher Forum." This board has developed a life of its and continues to evolve into a place in which issues are discussed and ideas are born. Rev. John Fisher enabled us to have real challenging discussions, while still teaching us to respect the view's of others. What a way to keep his memory bright than to rename this discussion board, this link..."The Fisher Forum." I await to read your responses...my friends.

My brother when I joined this Board I made contact with Rev. Fisher. I sought for the background against which this Board was started. Rev. Fisher informed me that since he realized these multiple gives that he received from the Lord he thought it wise to in honor of this great zion of the Lord put up this BBoard. He said he dedidacted this threat to the African Methodist Epicopla church. This was his wish from the bottom of his heart and I won't agree for us to engage in a renaming ceremony, though I appreciate the spirit in which you bring your suggestion. I am convinced that if we realy want to honor the memory of Rev. Fisher let us everything be the way he left it and focus on assisting his family by word and deed.

The Fisher Forum.......where Internet surfers can become Fishers of Men. I think this is a terrific idea!!! A fitting tribute to the legacy and memory of Parson Fisher. Hopefully, similar sentiment will be expressed and the idea is quickly implemented. Thanks Parson. QED

I shared with Pastor Ray privately that I too thought this was a great idea!! Lives have been changed literally because of this board and friendships and churches have been started because of this board. Just as we remember the hard work of Richard Allen who with a handful of people changed the world we too, must remember the legacy of Rev. John Fisher. When I finally meet Bill Dickens kids, Carmen buchanan grand children, Robert Mathews grand nieces, I want to be able to explain to them how I know their relatives. I want to share with them the story of this discussion board. I was a brand new A.M.E when I came on the board. God was laying it on my heart to for there to be an A.M.E church in Bozeman, Montana. I did not know how to do it. I have to be honest, everything I have learned about church planting I learned from this board. I vote for calling this board "Fisher Forum" for as my brother Bill has so adquately stated Rev. Fisher was a fisher of souls.
