Recent development regarding the moderator of this board and what we must do?greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread |
Last night I received several emails from people asking me if there was anything that I could do to delete the negative thread that had been posted over the weekend. I remembered Rev. Harper offering to move the discussion board to his website. I emailed him last night and asked if he would take on the role of moderator. He emailed me back and said yes. Thank you very much Rev. Harper. Now I need to share some history as to why I asked Rev. Harper to do this. I called Dr. Greenspun in Cambridge, Mass. On friday night and spoke with him personally regarding the use of this board. This discussion board belongs to Dr. Greenspun and the use of this board is free! God bless Dr. Greenspun. Dr. Greenspun said "the readers of the board would have to decide on the moderator." and once that was done I would get back to him and let him know who it is so that Dr. Greenspun can have all the details and then he would forward all necessary info to that person. I need to keep my word to Dr. Greenspun that the board members have decided on a moderator. So please if you would like to have Rev. Harper as our Moderator reply with a post below. The role of a moderator is very important. Thank you Rev. harper for saying yes. PLEASE EVERYONE LET ME KNOW IF REV. HARPER IS WHO YOU WANT. And I will get back to Dr. Greenspun immediately!

I vote for Rev. Harper! And will be sending him oreo cookies, via florida so Bill Dickens can make sure they are fresh. This vote is just a formality that we have to do so that Dr. Greenspun will know we have followed his rules for the use of his board. Rev. Harper is already hard at work!! And thank God. God bless you Rev. Harper. Your fifth district sister. Denise

I cast my vote for Parson Harper. By the way, I thought Dr. Greenspan was ensconced in Wash DC managing the Federal Reserve Board and the economic affairs of the US economy. I didn't know he was moonlighting as a techie at MIT. QED

I believe Rev. Harper is a wonderful choice for Moderator of this board. I thank Rev. Harper for volunteering, and Rev. Rogers for her work also. God bless both of you.

Bill the owner of the discussion board is GREENSPUN! And yes I knew you were kidding. Thanks Mary for your compliment. Rev. Harper has been wonderful to do this for us. I ask that we keep him and his ministry in prayer.

I just emailed Dr. Greenspun to let him know that the board did indeed want Rev. harper as our moderator!! As this was his request that we have a concensus from the board. I hope we will all thank Rev. Harper for taking on this responsibility. He has several ministries that he does and this is one more thing he has taken on. Rev. Harper should be hearing from Dr. Greenspun shortly. But in the mean time we OFFICIALLY have a moderator. Thank you Rev. Harper.

I am delighted that someone has volunteered to act as the moderator for this site. However, did we at least touch base with Rev. Fisher's widow and other family members to determine if they had plans to continue the board in his memory?

The discussion board was not owned by Rev. Fisher and is owned by Dr. Greenspun who owns many discussion boards. You can access all of his boards at www.greenspun.com Dr. Greenspun is a professor at MIT and teaches computer science. So this discussion board is seperate from A.M.E Today. In regards to A.M.E Today we do not know the wishes of Sister Jan regarding that matter. None of will ever forget Rev. Fisher. In no way did we mean to be disrespectful to the memory of Rev. Fisher. Dr. Greenspun sent his condelescences to the fisher family and the ame today family. I hope that clarifies things for you. Thank you for raising the question for there may have been others who were thinking the same thing.

From The Sunny and warm isles of BermudaThe vote is yes for the good parson from the 1rst District. He has my vote and prayers. Thank You Rev. Denise, it is good to know that you will be hanging around with us a little while longer. Professor QED and I were curious and by the way he does have a powerful voice like Paul Robeson and the carriage of James Earl Jones. The force is strong with this brother (smile).

Bro. Nalton you are trying to claim our moderator for your district. Rev. Harper is not from the first district but from the fifth district, which is also my district. Sorry we in the fifth are going to keep Rev. Harper. Of course feel free to visit the fifth district;-)

Thank you Reverends Rogers and Harper for this bold step. For those of us on this side of the Ocean, this is a very important tool and we thank God for your interventions. Sometimes we have raised issued on this Board out of sheer curiosity and it later turned out to be very informative. As long as we agree to disagree and still be brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ our Lord. We hope and prayers that Satan and his followers will stay away from posting negative and deregotory threads on this Board. God bless the AME Church!
