Where to go to try a variety of the many optionsgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Open-water rowing : One Thread |
I have been kayaking for several years and am ready for a change. The sliding seat wherry is the direction I am leaning. Something that can accomidate one and two rowers. (maybe even a dog) I'd love suggestions on boats and on a location possibly around the great lakes area where it's possible to try some out.

I do not work for these folks, I only found their web site, and since you don't mention where in the Great Lakes region you are, maybe Michigan is close enough..http://www.greatwoodboats.com/index2.htm

May I suggest that you try kayaking down the Rocky River. It is extremely scenic and you are able to make landfall in some very interesting locations. One in particular comes to mind. Approximately 1/2 from the mouth of the Rocky River there is a quaint little mall, Beachcliff Market Square that has a great little coffee shop next to it and a fantastic Rug shop within.Give it a try.
