I have a dvd player with w98, one Toshiba with xp and a Yamaha burner with xp too (2 differents PC) I can read most vcds on all of them. But some doesn't play on xp but does on w98 and some of them doesn't play well on the Toshiba but does on the Yamaha !! What is this mystery ? J-Louis from France

Sorry I don't have an answer for you. I am one of the people who is having this same problems. I am a movies collector, but now some of my older VCDs could not be played on my Windows XP computer using the Cyberlink PowerDVD program. These VCDs are said (as my computer says) to be simply blank! I need an answer too. If any one gives you a reply, I would like to join in and listen.

You may check recent news articles. I heard a report of a study on recordable CD's that showed that while recordable CD's were estimated to have a life of > 10 years, some CD's are not lasting more than 2 years. Your CD's may simply be expiring.
