I'm trying to find if there was a Mexican nighclub/bar in SF in the early 60s called sinaloa, or something that sounds like that. It was a favorite haunt of the SF Giants Latin baseball players...

The Sinaloa Restaurant was located on the east side of Powell Street, between Broadway and Vallejo. It is now a Chinese restaurant, the name of which I don't recall offhand.

I used to go the Sinaloa Restaurant in the early 50's. They served authentic Spanish quisine. They had great Flemenco dancers that entertained during dinner. Too bad it's no longer in operation.

I was doing a google search on an old restaurant plate that I have and found your question. It is from the Sinaloa Mexican Restaurant located at 1416 Powell St., San Francisco, California. Has a couple of dancers on the front! What a coincidence.

In an old "secratary" desk I found a Gourmet Dining coupon book from 1964. The third page was for Sinaloa. Its address was indeed 1416 Powell. Its phone number was SU 1-9624. Chicken tacos were on the menu and they did 'Authentic Latin American Shows' nightly.

I too can confirm the address. I found a picture of my grandfather taken at the restaurant with a card saying "Sinaloa 1416 Powell St, San Francisco" with a cartoon mexican man whistling at a lady. This picture was taken in November 1953.

the popular nightclub owned by luz garcia. i am doing a play about a singer who is returning to the stage at age 83, and staging it in mexico this october. i was friends with many people including willie mccovey, and orlando cepeda of the giants. it is a nostalgic club and i also have a picture of my cousin dancing at the sinaloa.
