***EZBOARD INFO***greenspun.com : LUSENET : Current News - Homefront Preparations : One Thread |
I've removed the password from the News section (there is none on the non news bit or Wisdom From the Old Ones) and changed the password on Welcome Wagon to oopart. Welcome Wagon will be available only to those registered here on the Greenspun forum. Later, we might add others. I have a feeling we might need a sort of probationary period before we give out the pw to someone.I know this sounds paranoid to those of you who weren't on board when we had previous problems with troublemakers (trolls). Please trust me on this--it's better--'way far better!--to be safe than sorry.
We shall be moving over to ezboard within a week so please bookmark the page: http://pub15.ezboard.com/bcurrents

If there's anyone around that isn't a registered user of ezboard [and if so it's suggested that you register GLOBAL not Local] they will show up as guests on the who's on line feature of the board. In the past at IC, these guests, as Sue mentioned, ran up the rates just prior to renewal.
Currents can block guests from viewing the board in order to keep costs down. [We aren't all made of money, ya know.]
While I don't see us blocking the guests right away, it should happen before renewal. We can also close the board to only [chuckle] 'gold members' [LOLOLOL] during the month prior to renewal. This will keep our cost down to 30 bucks easy. [That is, unless Greenspun goes TU during that time. It's always nice to have another site to fall back on, and so far these two boards haven't failed at the same time. Have they?

I still can't post without a ... Special Registration Password.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
brooks, email me. thought you were an admin.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
Yep, should be. Hmmm. You did log in, dintcha?
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
I saw brook43 or was it brooke43.that one is not listed as a member at all. anywhere.
She would need the main password in order to see anything. I put that password in our management section for easy reference, but I can say that it isn't anything that has been posted here recently.
Must have been an oversight of the Committee...
;)

I'm Brook43 on ezboard.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
I can get in, but I can't post. (While there is an upside to that, I'd rather be able to post...)
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
If you'd stay still long enough for me to think of clicking on your handle I'd try and PM you with the password. As it is, I'm getting ready to leave for work so you'll have to take your chances with the mother of all despots and her whims of nap and fancy.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
just checked your profile and you have PM disabled, so there goes that option.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
I added you to the allowed users on Welcome wagon. you should be able to post there now.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
Barefoot, I tried posting to the thread that said I was cleared for takeoff, but I can't get past the following prompt:"This ezboard requires that you know a special registration password before being able to post. If you do not know this password, please contact the administrator and request it. If you do know it, enter it below and hit REGISTER."
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
Um, it's oopart, isn't it? Is that the one they want? I'm here for a little bit so will look in the innards and hit things with spanners.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
Okay, name doesn't appear anywhere in roster. Need to post, then I can go in and dub thee administrator. There's anothe way to do it, which Barefoot did, I think, but I haven;'t got to that page yet.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
BrookS, do you have cookies enabled? If not, ez won't let you in.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
Yes, cookies are enabled. I can't post from home either.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
I just successfully posted on a private forum at SAR's, so it doesn't look to be a problem at my end.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
I can't post in Welcome Wagon, but then I never was an admin. I left a message for you, OG, in Non-News.
-- Anonymous, January 14, 2003
I just saw you on IC.. Hmmm Git check global for Brook43 then check for local, sometimes you do EVERYTHING right... but it is a EZ glitch.. Brook just hit refresh alot, and one time you'll be in! :)Git IF you need me in the back, just hollor.. EZ innards.. those I KNOW! hehehehe

I fixed it for meemur in w/wagon. it was admins only so i changed that.Brooke, try patriot as the password.
-- Anonymous, January 15, 2003
Okay, I think I figured it out. [I didn't want to post that password here which is why I asked you to email me.]The main board password was patriot. the w/wagon forum is oopart. [I'm posting that here now because someone else already did that.]
You needed to do both, patriot first, then oopart when it asked for it again.
BUT!
Some took patriot out of the mix. This would have been fine except for one little thing. While there is no main password any longer, the board still required that you know it and enter it the first time you try and post.
I fixed that requirement. Now, any request for a password will be for the forum itself, not the board.
If you would be so kind as to post something somewhere on that board so we know you can it would be appreciated and then we can move on.
BTW, didn't you have another handle over there? A despot handle? If you did, and I find out about it, well, it won't be nice. LOL

I was finally able to post, but that's because it didn't ask me for a password today.Brook43 is my global ezboard account as of last fall. Previously on ezboard I was some other Brook, but I was never Brooke.
Thank, I think. I still need to try it from home.

I posted the password because anyone registered here will be allowed to post at Welcome Wagon. If p[eople aren't registered here then they can't see the password here, n'est ce pas? Despot Committee matters can be discussed either via e-mail or by the forum on the board. I would prefer e-mail because I would rather not have another place to check for messages.BF, thanks for fixing the errant patriot password. I was VERY busy yesterday and found myself Brilloing and Brassoing all the brass fireplace tools (we have two sets) and the warming pan. They were bought at estate sales and haven't been cleaned since I bought them. Sorted and packed some more stuff. Also had an unexpected visitor from police HQ (a friend!).
Anyway, today should be a bit less hectic, unless I get another big spurt of energy, so I shall try to fix any little problems that arise on ez and also begin notifying folks that we're moving.
We're supposed to get some winter weather on Friday but the experts aren't quite sure how much or how little. Depends on the jet stream. Then I suppose it will go up and dump on BrookS, lol! The forecast started out as "light wintry mix," was "rain and snow" last night and is now "snow and wind." Hmmm. I'd better start charging batteries after this session! Damn good thing I got the chimney swept. Better get in a pile of wood too!
-- Anonymous, January 15, 2003
whew! that's over finally.think I'll get me a cuppa.
-- Anonymous, January 15, 2003
Git, apparently you have been too busy to arrange for the storm to make it this far north this time. PSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!
-- Anonymous, January 16, 2003
Nah, I was waiting for tonight's storm.
