It gets even better if you cook some lean ground beef and add a lot more tomato to it. And garlic. Until it actually resembles something you'd eat voluntarily. Not that I'd know, or anything. (Looks upward, whistles.)

I used a whole cabbage instead of a half, though, and hence more water, doubtless contributing to the initial blandness.
