Three American doctors have been shot dead in Yemen.

A fourth was wounded in the attack at a missionary-run hospital in the southern town of Jibla, Yemeni officials said.

The attacker - described as a suspected Islamist - was subsequently arrested.

The US embassy in Sana'a has sent a team to Jibla to help investigate the attack.

In a statement, it called on American citizens to enhance their security.

The US believes members of Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network went into hiding in Yemen after the collapse of the Taleban in Afghanistan last year. Remainder
