The Southern Railway tunnel is abandoned and is about a mile away from the Seaboard Tunnel. It is the Seaboard tunnel that is part of the Silver Comet Trail.

I don't have pictures of the Southern tunnel now, but it, but it is readily accessible and a frequent thrill for four wheelers. It is brick lined and is about half full of mud. The tunnel was bypassed when Southern made a huge cut thru Braswell Mountain allowing double- stacks on the busy Atlanta-Chattanooga main line. Southern's tunnel and the abandoned approachments are subject to a lot of ground water, so if you decide to visit it, wait for a good drought and wear your mud gear.
