Merry Christmas Rev. Fisher and sister Jan. We know there has been loss in your family this year and I continue to pray for your healing. In the midst of your pain you continued to pastor a congregation that extends around the world via the internet. I want to thank you for A.M.E Today and I thank you for using your time and money to keep A.M.E Today on the internet. You and sis. Jan are exemplary Christians. There were many times this year when I was weary and then I would check my email and there would be your newsletter to revive me. Thank you both so much for all that you do. Your reward is great both on earth an heaven. You are sorely missed on the board and when you get time will you please post to let us know how you and sister Jan are doing. God has not forgotten you and he is with you all the time.

I would analogize the contribute of this internet discussion site to the contribution that a certain man of 18th century Philadelphia made, when he contriubted land at 6th and Lombard street, and hauled a ram-shackle blacksmith shop to that site, out of his own pocket, so that certain of his kind might have a place to meet and worhip under their own "vine and fig tree."

This same man, it must be noted, never accepted one dime as payment from the denomination which he founded, as compensation, though he went on to become its first, and only Bishop, for the first fifteen years of its formal life. Instead, he relied upon his earnings as a cobbler, and sage investor, to support his wife and family. I am told that he died a very wealthy man, notwithstanding--or possibly, because ot his selflessness.

Such selflessness of Bishop Richard Allen, and now of Rev. John Fisher, is akin to that of our Savior who also stated "For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you." John 13:15.
