Why does groundwater move from where it has higher energy to where it has lower energy? Why doesn't it flow to where it has higher energy from where it has lower energy? What causes this to happen?

I'm not quite sure of your question. But as far as I know, groundwater moves from where it has high energy to where it has low energy. This is because of Hydraulic head. It depends on the groundwater's elevation and pressure. Because the pressure and elevation are higher at a particular place it intends to move towards where it is low.
