I am a member of Ebenezer AME in Brunswick, MD. I am a non-traditional aged student who has returned to school after 13 years. Is there any scholarship or grant information that the AME church provides that I'd be eligible for? I have infant, toddler, & adolescent children and my husband is the only person working. So, needless to say, there's not a whole lot of money to go around to pay my tuition. I am in the AS degree program of Nursing at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, WV. If anyone knows of anything that could help, I'd certainly appreciate it.Thanks & God Bless All who respond.
I know the Lord is going to make a way!!

Sister Daly,I don't know of any scholarships the AME Church sponsors for non- traditonal students. However, there are many scholarship and grant books in publication that list scholarships for non-traditional students. You might qualify for something for displaced homemakers (women who have interrupted their education to raise families) on the private, state and federal levels. Several womens' organizations give scholarships and grants to displaced homemakers. Also, you will find scholarships for your major in nursing and future career goals. You can browse these books at your public library or any Barnes and Noble or Waldenbooks book store.
Also, you can log onto www.Webfast.com to enroll free of charge to have scholarship and grant information sent to your private mailbox which is provided by them. Check off everything that applies to your parents', your husband's and your backgrounds and your interests. You'll get lots of notices for scholarships based upon essays and other qualifications.
Don't overlook your college financial aid office and local organizations.
Good luck in your search for funds. Congratulations on your decision to return to school. It's always good to hear that someone has taken a positive step forward to improve their lives in some way.
If I can be of any further assistance to you, don't hesitate to write.
Sincerely,
