HELP: Finding a Church-Home in Central New York Stategreenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread |
¶ Greetings! I found this site as part of my web-search for information to help me locate an AME Church in the Central New York State area (CNY) -- more specifically, in the Syracuse/Utica vicinity. I moved here 18 months ago from the Boston area where my church-home was St. Paul AME Church in Cambridge, MA. ¶ Since then, I've been blessed to be able to maintain my involvement with St. Paul through the design, development and maintenance of their website: http://st-paul-ame.org ¶ Unfortunately I have not yet located an AME Church in the Syracuse/Utica area. If you have any information regarding same, please e·mail it to me at either of the following two addresses: • michael.gullo@st-paul-ame.org • webauthor@st-paul-ame.org ¶ Many thanks and congratulations on your excellent website. —Michael Gullo

Michael, let me first commend youon the web site. It's good to see a prominent church like St. Paul, Cambirdge back in cyberspace. And the presentation is beautiful.I refer you to the District web site for a directory: http://www.1stdistrict- ame.org/. Perhaps it can be of some help.

Your suggestion seems like a good one, but unfortunately, for some reason, my browser doesn't properly view some of the pages at the above referenced site. And, in particular, the "Church Locator" does not show up properly in my browser. If you or anyone else would be so inclined, I'd much appreciate it if you could plug in these zip codes and let me know what you come up with: Syracuse—13202, Utica—13501. ¶ Also, thanks for your kind words regarding st-paul-ame.org. I certainly appreciate the positive feedback. ¶ Thanks again for your help.

Greetings, Brother Michael, I am glad to see that this board was so quick to identify a church for you. To all on this board, I want you to know that my brother is a gifted, comitted brother who has made wonderful contributions to St Paul AME, Cambridge. The website is only one of them. It was great to see him at our Pastor's 25 Anniversary events. We miss him here. Brother Michael will be blessed, I am sure, by a new home church. The new home church will be blessed by him, a faithful, loving, gifted Christian man who serves. May God continue to smile on you, Brother Michael. Bro Bob McCain

Bro. Bob- I am truly blessed by the kindness of your words, the kindness of your heart and that of all my brothers and sisters at St. Paul. ¶ My recent visit to St. Paul was all too brief. And while it served as a somewhat bitter-sweet reminder of how very much I miss my St. Paul family, it also helped me realize that I don't need to wait another 16 months for my next visit! And that I can reach out to the larger AME community to find a church home in CNY. ¶ BTW, my initial queries suggest that the AME Church in Utica may have relocated (or something) — when I call the phone number, I get an answering system for a United Church of Christ church. I'm still in the process of trying to connect with Bright Chapel in Syracuse. I'll let you know how things progress. ¶ Once again, thanks to JCS for the information on these churches. ¶ And thank you, again, Bro. Bob. Your words have truly brightened my day... and my entire week! —Bro. MichaelP.S. I hope the HTML tags work!

Brother Michael welcome to the board! And I know God will provide you with an A.M.E church home. You might also want to contact Rev. Attles for he will probably know the presiding elder in your area and get a phone number for you. Once you contact the Presiding Elder that may help. Keep the faith God has a home for you. By the way you did a wonderful job on St. Paul's website. God Bless!

Reverend Rogers- thanks for your words of encouragement and the positive feedback on st-paul-ame.org. Both are much appreciated. Also, your suggestion to enlist help from Pastor Attles and the Presiding Elder is a good one. Thanks. ¶ BTW, I have found out that St. James AME Church in Utica holds its Sunday services at the United Church of Christ church mentioned before. They said they'd contact the AME pastor regarding their Sunday services. I'm still in the process of making contact with Bright Chapel. Thanks again to everyone for their help. —Michael

Brother Michael I am so excited to hear your report regarding your visit to an A.M.E church this Sunday. So do post and let us know how things go. And don't forget to let everyone know that Bro. Bob at St.Paul has a fabulous children choir and all the good works that St. Paul is doing. God will bless you for your faithfulness!
