About five years ago, I bought a painting 26" W x 20" H by Lois Barr. It's a very exciting, dynamic oil, done in a pointalist style portraying some sort of African ceremony with dancers in front of three large skulls, two of which are subtly hidden within the composition; clearly this is an exotic voodoo-like theme, so I think it probably puts it in the mid-20th century, especially based on the rather flat perspective and the sophisticated stylization of the figures. The dealer I bought if from had no idea where it was from or who the artist was. Being an artist myself, I was impressed with its level of detailing and energy. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
