What Are We Doing Right?greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread |
On this board we tend to focus on the negative (me included). What I want to know is what do you think the Christian Churches are doing well? Anything?I think we have some of the best Bible Colleges around.

Barry; It is out of a Quandary that you get this reply. You see I believe strong in the ideals and the truths of our doctrinal position. I believe strong in some of the RM cliche's such as "where the bible speaks we speak, where the bible is silent we are silent"; and "In doctrine, unity, In opinions, Liberty, in all things love." The thing is, I am not sure what to say after that.
I don't want to be negative in my reply, but I don't see much so I will share with you my wish list. I want to see a positive church, a brotherhood united in love, a body that cares for all, regardless of race or social status, and especially its wounded, a group that restores the sinner and is willing to do everything possible to bring souls to Jesus and keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. I want to worship God almighty our father, without motive questioned. I want to minister for the sake of the name, to whoever needs the help that I can give. And above all else to know that though I don't do it the same as other brothers, I will still be respected for my work for the Lord as I will respect all the others.
Barry if this terribly destroyed your desire for good things, I apologize. I have not had anyone to really talk about how I feel about "us". I almost feel like a renegade with no real affiliation. I am just here now because what I believe this group mostly closely follows what I belive about the scripture. And somehow, I know I am going to get burned for all I have just said. So that's enough.

Bill,I think much of what you desire is present if you look in the right places. Perhaps the church as a whole is not experiencing this, but there are definitley pockets of it all over the place. A lot of it depends on personal experience. If you spend a lot of time in negative churches and with negative people, it will tend to make the whole movement look that way. I experienced a lot of that when I was in Kentucky, but the further I've gotten away from it, I realize that not all, not even most, of the churches there were like that. It was a "can't see the forest for the trees" kind of deal.
In Christ,

The silence on this thread is pretty sad.

Barry -- I have been very silent on this bulletin board. I only check it once every couple of weeks or so. Honestly, I tire of reading Philips diatribes. At least the board was interesting when the non- instrumental dudes were here.Just an opinion.
