is the lenore refered to in the poem a fictional character or was there a real person in poe's life? if so, what happened and is there more to the story... plz write.. need all the help for english oral

Ellen, Helen, Eleanora, Lenore. Light, bright. Beacon. The classical ideal of Helen of Troy. The root relationship probably dates back to his first "To Helen" and an early long poem that includes a union with a Lenore. Also rhymes nicely with other sonorous melancholy words. So the Lenore writings deal with her death.(Lenore, The Raven, Eleanora) Always harkening back to the hopeful guiding light of "To Helen."

There were some women connected more intimately to those references. Stannard, Sarah Whitman(his last courtship to whom the second "To Helen" is addressed), Elmira Royster(his first love and last attempt). One biographer gets more creative with showing Poe's preferences in characters and personal nicknames containing elements of his own name and other intimates. In southern pronunciation Poe and "ore" are near rhymes.

-there is no more to the story on paper, it can continue in your head however. Lenore is suppose to represent a goddess, some heavenly person, which probably in Egar Allen Poe's life is some women he love who died of "consumption" the disease in which practically everyone whom he loved died of. In his story "The Masquerade of the Red Death" the red death i think represents "consumption" (the disease of throwing up blood). I highly doubt this is useful to you now in November but hopefully it may help someone else, or is just interesting to someone.

in the story ELEONORA Poe said she was his cousin. So Eleonora could be virginia, his 13 year old wife and cousin. check it out.

Lenore cannot be Virginia, his wife. The poem "Lenore" was written in 1831 and his wife died in 1847. "Annabel Lee", which was his last publication, is believed to be Virgina.
