I would like to know this too. I have googled all night long only to find a utility called mp4extract60.exe. This dumped mp4 tracks that made up the orig. mp4. Now what?

This is a problem because mp4 uses a Variable Bit Rate (VBR) which inevitably leads to sync problems when you try to convert through TMPGEnc. I am just starting to work on this and haven't done much experimentation but so far it seems that the process will require use of NANDUB (a second generation version of VirtualDub) to first convert the mp4 avi file to an avi file with Constant Bit Rate (CBR) and then use TMPGEnc to convert THAT file to MPEG1 (or MPEG2 for SVCD).

I am trying to figure out a way to accomplish this without having to do two conversions but so far haven't managed it as NANDUB doesn't convert to MPEG.

Another method that might work (but would still require two conversions) would be to use the latest Windows Movie Maker (Version 1.2, I believe) to convert the VBR .avi to .wmv and then use TMPGEnc to convert the .wmv file to MPEG.

What I need to do is convert the same file by both methods and then compare results/times. Another task for my "To Do" list!

hi this is imran from uae u have 2 copy 1 software called nero express which is for cd writer software from which u can copy any format of clip to vcd ok tahnks bye Imran

actually nero doesnt do a good job with other formats. basically the mpg format is the only format that nero burns, and sometimes it doesnt even accept those! nero is very picky and wont burn avi and definately doesnt burn mp4.

We can use Nero 6 (www.nero.com) to convert it - both VCD and SVCD. But, the subtitle will be lost.

Anybody knows how can I have the subtitle back?

I am not a native english speaker. I need text on screen in other language.

No idea on subtitles. TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress converts mp4 to VCD.

AVS Video Converter can convert MP4 video files to MPEG1 directly, provided that you have the right codec installed. The current version of AVS Video Converter is 3.3... and is selling for around $30. I've tried the trial 3.2 version (which leaves watermark on the output video), and it worked great... The conversion rate is about 1 to 1 (if the mp4 video is 1 hr long, it would take 1 hr to convert to mpeg1 format).... Hope this helps.
