I mentioned in a previous post that Bishop Deveaux was interviewed on PBS. I agree with you Bishop Deveaux also echoed my sentiments, I missed the program, my girlfriend who is a episcopalian minister saw the program and was raving about Bishop Deveaux. I can see why!! I watched the streaming video and to hear his voice it is evident he is an anointed man. I hope everyone will share the web site with others. Again thank you Robert.

I listended to the interview and read the transcript. Nothing surprising to me, DeVeaux has been like this (articulate and disciplined thinker) every since I first met him in 1987. The quote by Edmund Burke ("evil triumphs when good men do nothing") is particularly instructive during these trying times. Burke was a rare politician-philosopher who put personal conviction above populist opinion. As a member of the British Parliament he favored lifting sanctions against Irish Catholics in the 18th century even when it was not the politically correct thing to do. This position ultimately resulted in him losing his seat in Parliament. One of Bishop DeVeaux's members at Metropolitan when he pastored there is PBS correspondent Gwen Ifill. She is also the moderator for a syndicated talk show called, I think, The Washington Group. I can't confirm but I would hazard to guess that Gwen played a key role in setting up that interview. Ms. Ifill was also instrumental in the renovation of Metropolitan's Christian Ed Bldg. She is also the sister of an AME Presiding Elder in the 6th District. I can't remember his first name but I'm sure Robert knows his full name and PE district territory. QED

Gwen Ifill, who sojourned at St. Paul Cambridge while she was a student at college (Simmons?), and was also a member of the New Temple Singers there, is the daughter of O. Urcille Ifill, General Secretary of the church from 1988 until his death. She is the sister of Rev. Earl Ifill, who also served a stint as assistant pastor at St. Paul before transferring to the 6th district, where he is currently a presiding elder.
