I have been told that i have a rare iridology marking on my right iris, called a "butterfly" indicating a lung problem. I do not think that the person who performed the initial analysis is as experienced as i would like. Can you tell me about this "butterfly" pattern of 4 markings in the lung area of the iris? Thank you.

Properly speaking, iris markings do NOT "indicate a problem." This is one of the most widespread misconceptions in iris analysis. In fact it is very common to have iris fiber separation in the horizontal quadrants, and this is not in itself to be considered any cause for concern. Negative beliefs surrounding fiber separation date back at least 100 years. Everything is relative, and whether or not your iris fiber separation is significant will depend on other factors especially the color pattern. If you want more details, email the iris pictures. The fiber separation is a constitutional indicator pertaining to the resilience of your connective tissue and organ structures in general. In the Rayid model this generally connotes a feeling type of personality (more feeling than thinking), however if the location is closer to the pupil zone (the mental zone) as in the example given (moreso if there is color deposit), it will go along with a mental response pattern; if the fiber separation is towards the periphery, the response pattern will be more emotional. Those with a flower (any type of lacuna) in the 8:00-9:00 RE or 3:00-4:00 LE will sometimes have felt a lack of nurturing from the associated parent (LE=mother, RE=father).

Hi Marylou

I couldn’t help but take a peek at your iris photograph; unfortunately only part of your iris was visible which doesn’t help. The marking is not unusual (nest of lacunas) it indicates partly opened, partly closed lacunas with pale edges.

The collarette is pushed in indicating an obstacle or change of gland function owing to a probable change in the organ. The pigment when found over the focus (marking) often indicates an active condition usually this is an isolated pigment and not one of many which indicates other conditions. Your marking does not appear in the lung zone it is in the right side of the heart and indicates an inheritance probably from Grandparents. Depending on your lifestyle there is little to worry about, though in times of stress you may have palpitations. If so try relaxing with something like Yoga. If experience swelling of the feet, ankles, legs, and abdomen, or often feel tired, have little appetite, and experience weight gain see your doctor for a check up. James Colton
