That would be my second hobby if I had a "clue". Anyone carve bowls from chunks of wood? If so, I have a large chunk of cherry wood that has a perfect impression of a leaf in the grain that I thought might be an interesting winter sidebar. I haven't any idea how to carve a bowl though.

Not much carving here. I'm a scupltor, but I add, not subtract. ;-)

"Scupltors" make lots of typos, it's because we are so right brained, lol.

David, I'm not a carver but the thought of a beautiful handcarved wood bowl sure sounds nice. Here's a tutorial for carving a chunk of wood into a bowl. When you get it done please send in a picture, I'd love to see it. http://www.countryworkshops.org/bowl5.html

Kathy, David doesn't live at MY house. LOL! Just the chunk of cherry. And thank you beaucoup for that website, which probably won't be able to turn that chunk of wood into anything more than fire ashes. ( If I know the owner of it as well as I think I do).

my mother opened a craft store,, and all she does it wood working crafts. Though she has other crafters selling their things there. I tried to get Cindy to make some more rag rugs, (which I traded for), to sell there,, but she stopped ansering my emails,,,, people love the one I got, adn want their own.

Sorry Granny, I got my posts confused. LOL I do hope you figure out something to do with that wood, it sounds so pretty. Maybe you could get someone to make 'slices' then use them as the base for wood burning, carving or something. I don't know but it just sounds like a special chunk of wood in need of a project.
