What did everyone pay @ fir$t $ervice

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

I know that this subject has been addressed briefly before, but I'd like to hear an average of what the rest of you paid at your 600 mile first service. Any problems with dealers skipping anything or otherwise not handling any break-in period issues. The last thing I want to happen is to get overcharged and underserviced. I've got a slight lean backfire through the airbox under part-throttle openings at 2500-3k rpms and a stalling phenomenon when rolling to a stop, with the clutch pulled in and the revs start to fall below 4k. Is it the throttle bodies outta sync, CO adjustments, or .....???? By the way, its a 02 Senna with the Rg3 pipes and SPR eprom/computer pre-installed b4 delivery.

Val,

I had the same problem with my 02 senna, with RG3 and eprom. The problems is not resolved and seemed to be a combination of things.

CO2 needed calibration, Throttle bodies needed adjustment and the fuel mixture was to slightly to rich. The stalling problem with the clutch pulled in, (especially reducing from high revs) is a 'low revs recovery' condition, due to the richness of the fuel.

You might want to ask the supplier whom you bought the bike from if the bike was tuned AFTER fitting the RG3 and chip. My bet is that it wasn't. Adding RG3 Pipe and chip to a Senna is not as simple as fitting the pipe and chip. There is a substantial amount of tuning and setup that needs to be done to ensure after fitting to ensure it's running properly. I can speak from experience here!! Have a trusted mechanic check all of the above, as well as the water pump impella seals, which needed to be replaced on mine. I have heard of a few other senna's requiring the same, and typically announces itself with a leak from the water pump.

Good Luck

Sorry... correct to the above... typo

I had the dealer (Fast By Ferracci) install the RG3 pipes and EPROM on my 2002 senna before I put any miles on it. I did not experience any of the problems you listed. First service was 2 hours of labor @ 60/hour; oil(35.85); oil filter(15.50); & gasket (.50) - 171.85 total Call FBF (215-657-1276) I doubt the throttle bodies are out of sync; maybe the trim screw in computer needs adjustment?

$300. However, they didn't touch the as oil a just changed it. With an oil & filter, it would have been around $375.

Valves were sligthly off. The '02 feels much stronger now! Dealer also said the MVs have a pretty long break in, so the older it gets, the better it gets.
