The King and Queen of the Discussion Board

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

After 9 months of reading and participating in lively discussions, I have been blessed to meet numerous persons. Just like Hollywood Squares, there are board regulars responsible for keeping the discussions clean, real, and timely. If there were to be a "King"and "Queen" of Discussions for this board, who would those persons be? For Queen of the Board, my vote goes to Rev. Denise "I am always positive, and chipper while living in Montana" Rogers! For King, it has to be Bill (QED) Dickens! Where in the World is....Bill Dickens?

Just as God has no favorites and loves all of his children equally, all of us on this board are servants of God! We were put here to praise him and the one true king Jesus Christ. Ray I thank you for your compliment but I am but a servant of christ. I am a country preacher and that is all I want to be. I am a child of God and because I am human I am still growing in my relationship with him. I learn so much from everyone on this board. And I do not want anyone to reel there are cliques, or those on the board that are more important than anyone else. Every post is important every reader and writer to this board is and can be an instrument of Christ. Let us keep our eyes on the true king Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit and proclaim the mighty power of God. Ray you are very kind, but keep me in the role of a servant of Christ. God bless you for your kind word. Pastor Denise a foot soldier in the army of the lord.

Rev. Rogers I know you mean every word of that. But I have to say "Spoken like a gracious queen." You are a servant of the most High God, but it's so wonderful to receive flowers and words of adorations from fellow citizens. I know God is pleased when we compliment one another.

Accept this hug along with the compliment. :-)

As for Prof. QED, he has checked into his Houston accommodations. I am hopeful that Rev. Payne and I can dine with his family tonight, engaging in the sustentation to which he referred with great anticipation. :-)

Yes, I am in the Energy Capitol of the US (even without Enron). Looking forward to attending a black rodeo and putting on a 10 gallon hat, cowboy boots and riding a noble steed. Who knows maybe I can pass for the Lone Ranger or one of the original Buffalo Soldiers. While Pastor Ray Allen definitely provides an unusual blend of comic relief and intriguing insight, I must confess that his nomination of me as the King of this BB is far too gracious. That recognition should aptly go to Rev. Alton Paris. Rev. Paris contributions are far too numerous for me to cite. His cyber efforts have truly lent new meaning to the idea of connection. I am just a gadfly absorbing as much AME information I can from Robert Matthews, Jerryl Payne, Pastor Harold Turner, Jazzman, Nalton, Chuck Kinsler and the cerebral yet "very down" Pastor - Vernon Byrd, Jr. You are all my mentors. Now as we are found of saying in this Zion, protocol being established, where can I go and get something to eat. I surely don't want my wife to get too jealous when I strut my stuff this week. QED

Jerryl we are praying bill does not eat you out of house and home. If there is an exorbitant food Bill because of Bill, we will try to put on some fund raisers to cover the cost. Word has it he is still heading west, so we still have time to raise additional funds. Jerryl just remember if it get too bad point him to McDonalds we all will understand. I really am happy that the two of you will meet. You both are biological brothers. And if you were not serving God this meeting would never happen. Praise God for his glory.

My! What a modest bunch we are. But I have been blessed to have learned from each of you who posts here. I am pleased to know each of you, even if only in cyberspace. It also simply bears out what the Apostles told us two thousand years ago that the Church should be. That is to say, "some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; but all are one and when we come together with such a array as this, all are truly enriched and all are blessed. Together we stand and thus as our Lord Jesus Christ has said, "nothing shall be impossible unto (us) you."

It was quite a honor to have my name mentioned by that sage, Professor Dickens as being a noteworthy contributor to this board. I thank God for this bulletin board because I have been educated, uplifted, and inspired by most of the contributors. If I had to pick a king of this discussion board, I would choose Rev. John Fisher for his technical expertise and professionalism as a journalist in keeping it online. Rev. John Fisher is a credit to the AME church and he is actively promoting the AME church's efforts towards world wide evangelism through this site. I have visited other christian sites and I have left because I got tired of christian people " cutting one another up". I thank God for this site and yes I agree that Rev. Sister Denise Rogers is the queen of this site because she allows the Spirit of God to speak through her.

Well, I am here to report that the incomparable Prof. QED did not eat me out of house and home. Indeed, Prof. Dickens has lost weight since my last visit with him in 2001. While "svelte" was not the Rorscach word that flashed to mind, "slimmed down" was certainly evident. :-)

We had a delightful sustentation of Tex-Mex food. Our families shared together. Our wives discussed nursing. Our children got along nicely. And all the adults touched on one of our favorite subjects - the goodness of the Lord and the AME church (okay, 2 favorite subjects:-)).

My thanks to Bill, Jennie, and the kids. May they continue to enjoy their western trek.

Jerryl it is great to hear that all of you had fellowship together. What is Brother Bill doing traveling across the country. You forgot to mention what Bill had for dessert?
