I was looking for a way to ask a question. I found this 1950's postcard for the GOTHAM COCTAIL LOUNGE at Powell and O'Farrell Sts. I can' t find anything on this place. I think that it is the tobacco and magazine store now. Got anything more? Mark

My father owned the Irisher Club at 141 Mason Street from about 1945- ? probably about 1948 or 1949. What is now known as the Tenderloin area of San Francisco was the club area in the 1940s and 1950s and very safe. The Irisher Club had the first strip tease in SF beside the Barbary Coast. The lineup included Tempsest Storm, Candy Cane, Boots Camay, Francis Phea. Also had singers including the King Sisters and the Hart Trio. MC was Ray Camoron and Earl Bell. My parents also had an interest in another club, the Blue Note which was at 545 Post Street but I do not have much info about that club. Think their interest in it was from about 1942-1945.
