I have a Fall project in mind which is building a small barn cantilever style,say about a 20' by 20',using my own logs from the homestead.Does anyone have any good advice on this type of construction or any do's an don't's so to speak.

I know what a cantilever is but not cantilever style.

From what I understand, although distribution of load is extemely 'sound', close attention must be paid! Here is a site that seemed fairly easy to understand, hope it is useful.

I was curious, why are you choosing this style? Wright used it to "free" the plan, and it is often used for that reason, like for sports arenas and such. The other most common use is to 'solve' a problem, like bridges. I just wondered....

Thanks for the information.Patty,I chose this style for the appearance,I like it, In my area their are not any barns build using the cantilever method of construction.This method was used in eastern TN. in the 1800's and early 1900's. A few can still be seen today.
